Once More upon a Sleepless Night

Once more I sit upon a sleepless night in the flickering light. No one near no one close only in my memories are they close.

Names of beloved friends present and past bring forth a slim smile upon my lips as my red eyes close in thought of the handsome boys I once knew, eyes like diamonds some like pearl, others the bluest of the seas. Skin tanned others milky white all behold my sight.

Most of them their pictures bright only in my mind's sight because not a camera was in sight!

Flickering flames of kerosene light dances around the room dark as a stormy night, handsome friends the cutest boys most just a memory in my mind's hind sight.

Dearest friends, my eyes behold some I could touch, the other just sight.

Friendship is like a lover's heart Frigile at times like the finest silk and at others in tormoil like a sea in a blistering gale.

Oh how many a tear have fell from my eyes upon a soft shoulder of a friend of mine only to have those tears returned from their own weeping eyes as if to say cry my friend cry for I am here to hold you close and dear to my soul.

But when your alone, on a sleepless night who is here to catch those diamond pearls as they slip down your cheeks to land upon your darkened soul.

So take heed and listen well my friends hold your friendships dear and near your soul for one day you make find yourself on a sleepless night all alone but fear not for a friend maybe near your reach out your hand to take his and touch his soul.
